ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This paper describes the actual situation of the different activities that have been accomplished by the Canal de Isabel II - a public company that is entrusted of the water supply to the Region of Madrid - in relation to the security of the large dams that are of its ownership. This analysis is done taking into consideration all the regulations that are in force at this moment; which are: Basic Directive of Civil Protection Planning on Flood Risks (1995), Regulations for Design, Construction and Operation of Large Dams (1967), and Technical Regulations of Dams and Reservoir Safety (1996). In order to have a complete idea of the works done; it includes a description of the documents above mentioned, as well as the conclusions achieved during the process.
