ABSTRACT
This chapter concerns aspects of the engineering behaviour of clay in hydraulic structures. Most of the relevant properties of clay soil are influenced by weather conditions, vegetation and the like. The nature of changes is discussed and quantitative indications of the effects on engineering behaviour in dikes and seawalls are given.
