ABSTRACT

As part of the EC funded project “EuroSoilStab” aiming at developing dry deep mixing methods for stabilisation of organic soils, stabilising tests have been carried out on Swedish peat and gyttja. A large number of tests have been conducted on laboratory prepared samples with different compositions of soils and binders. Strength and permeability tests have been performed to study the effects of the different binders and to find suitable binders for the various soils studied. The type of binder giving the best stabilising results varied for the different types of organic soil. Differences in stabilising effect were obtained, depending not only on the type and amount of binder, but also on the curing temperature.
