ABSTRACT

Mixing operations is widely used throughout industrial production. Today’s knowledge of the mixing process has been developed by the chemical industry. Although there has been extensive research for a long time, there is still a lack of fundamental understanding about the principles of the mixing processes. This paper is a survey of the mixing process at the dry jet mixing method, as used mainly in the Scandinavian countries. The different mixing mechanisms and the various stages in the dispersion of dry particles in a soft soil are discussed briefly. A discussion of the rheological behaviour of soft soils and the need of further research are included in the paper.
