ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to provide practical recommendations on the development of the tourist and recreational industry in Russia. Here, we present the research results of the features of the tourist market in the Russian Federation, and show the significance, role, and essence of recreation in solving the social and economic problems of Russian regions. We also reveal the actual problems of the tourist market and the main potential components of the tourist market. Furthermore, we prove that the development of tourism in Russia is impossible without the development of the recreational infrastructure (including the tourist infrastructure), the creation of which requires significant investments and targeted budget financing. Finally, we propose a list of basic directions for the development of the recreational system in the Russian Federation. We also show the role of the government in the sustainable development of tourism in the regions, and the importance of the quality and priority of state bodies with regard to the effective use and development of the recreational potential.
