ABSTRACT

The government’s efforts to carry out various affordable housing development projects is expected to provide an opportunity for people to own a house. There is a good market and high demand for affordable housing as a result of the capability of the purchaser and the sudden rise in housing prices. But now, aspects of quality are in question. According to the CIDB, quality assessment of housing units by the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC) showed that most housing units were not up to the quality standards consistent with medium and high medium cost houses. There are two aspects to be considered in determining the quality of the house: physical and environment aspects, and the satisfaction of the homes occupied aspects (Sudin, 2002). This paper aims to find out the level of satisfaction of Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) on the quality of the house occupied. This research only focuses on public housing provided by the private sector and does not include private housing. Taman Mutiara Rini Bestari in Skudai, Johor were chosen as the study area and 100 questionnaires were distributed to 100 residents. Data were analysed using frequency analysis and descriptive analysis with Likert scale and cross-tabulation analysis. The results found that the majority of respondents are dissatisfied with most of the elements studied. Only a few elements provide maximum satisfaction to the residents.
