ABSTRACT
Infectious complications can develop after autologous stem cell transplantation for autoimmune diseases and can occasionally be fatal. Preventive measures are essential and should be taken before, during and after the transplant procedure to minimize their occurrence. This chapter reviews the current evidence and suggests management strategies to prevent infectious disease morbidity and mortality in these patients.
