ABSTRACT

Theoretical population ecology deals with the study of changes in population size through time. In other words, it is the study of why populations of living organisms increase, decrease or remain unchanged, i.e., population dynamics (Berryman 1999). Under favorable environmental conditions, populations will begin to increase in numbers. The maximum rate at which a population can increase is determined by the intrinsic life history characteristics of the species. Nevertheless, many extrinsic factors can influence the dynamics of a population such as environmental
