ABSTRACT

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory arthritis characterized by skin and joint inflammation. Numerous comorbidities affecting many organ systems are associated with PsA. It is imperative for clinicians to remain aware of these comorbidities not only for optimal management but also to improve patient function and quality of life. This chapter outlines common comorbidities seen in PsA patients, as well as their influence on disease activity, some treatments, and their impact on patient function and outcomes. Physicians should be aware and considerate of the many facets that may be affected in PsA. Screening, recognizing, and addressing comorbidities is pivotal for effective management of PsA patients.
