ABSTRACT

Essential oils are rapidly growing in popularity because they are being used in industries, namely, the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries; veterinary products; industrial deodorants; and tobacco without any side effects. Recently, their uses in pest control have been explored. This chapter provides an idea of the culture of using essential oils in the garden, at home, and so forth. It presents some essential oils like rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, thyme oil, and clove oil that naturally repel insects and summarizes some natural, homemade, and inexpensive bug sprays. The chapter offers some favorite, all-natural, inexpensive, organic recipes for pest control. It is well known that spiders do not like strong-smelling herbs like mint, lavender, and orange. They hate peppermint oil. So, useful and effective pest repellent recipes can be prepared. Examples are described in the chapter.
