ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the research that documents the harmful effects of electrosmog. It provides useful tips on how to minimize exposure and delay or prevent injury, and how to help those who are already adversely affected by exposure to electromagnetic pollution. New telecommunication technologies such as Wi-Fi, cell phones, and smart meters are exposing the population to higher levels of microwave radiation. Electromagnetic pollution refers to electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic radiation emitted by common household items that use electricity or emit radio frequency/microwave radiation. These frequencies are considered non-ionizing, which means they do not have enough energy to dislodge electrons and break chemical bonds. The scientific and medical evidence that electromagnetic exposure from extremely low frequency to microwave radiation has serious biological and health effects includes epidemiological studies, in vivo and in vitro experiments. The effects fall into three categories: cancers, reproductive problems, and symptoms of electrohypersensitivity.
