ABSTRACT

Integration and Test (I&T) entails planning, personnel, processes, facilities, and other resources required to support the integration and test of the spacecraft (S/C). I&T involves coordination among a large number of individuals. The core I&T team consists of I&T Leads, Harness Leads, Harness Technicians, Integration Engineers, Integration Technicians, and Test Conductors. The level and type of I&T support vary with the complexity and number of S/C as well as the phase of the mission. Integration Technicians are also required to build cables and support integration activities. I&T support grows during developmental phases and drops off at the beginning of Phase E (operations). Harness fabrication begins about 10 months before integration. It involves manufacturing the harness with tailored lengths to account for routing. Instrument integration follows the same process as other subsystems, with the added considerations due to any unique characteristics of the instrument.
