ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the importance of biofuels and introduces the various production technologies that are further discussed in the following chapters. After the definition and classification of various biofuels, a general schematic of biorefineries for both energy-driven and product-driven categories is presented. A brief introduction to each chapter of this book is given to highlight the relevance and application of the topics covered.
