ABSTRACT

Ever since patients' quality of life (QoL) has become an important health outcome, incorporating the measurement of patients' well-being into clinical trials and clinical care has opened up new perspectives in patient management and has brought emphasis on the implications of treatment adherence for patient outcomes in the course of their disease. With a growing number of patients suffering from chronic diseases, clinicians have come to consider medical treatment through benefits, risks, and costs and through patients' subjective evaluations of their own treatment. Chronic disease means that treatments may stabilize or slow down the disease course but rarely ever cure. Fatigue is a common and disabling symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS) at all stages of the disease for 50"-90" of patients. Cancer pain is multidimensional and comprehensive pain assessment is essential. When dealing with chronic diseases, the aim is to improve the QoL of patients.
