      ABSTRACT

Turning the wheel of history, seeking the initial steps towards the understanding of the optical systems based on the invaluable contribution of the Muslim and Arab Scholar, Ibn al-Haytham, enthusiastic scientists succeeded in developing modern eyes capable of resolving the matter down to its atoms, known as synchrotron light sources. They are super microscopes with different experimental techniques known as beamlines, which are powerful enough to reveal the finest details about the unknowns of physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacy and biomedicine, as well as materials science, environment, art restoration, cultural heritage and some other arenas. Synchrotron light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) is one of those eyes, and is the first facility of its kind in the Middle East constructed in Jordan.
