Communication is the tool for sharing, acquiring and exploring ideas and knowledge. Different languages are used for communicating ideas and literary works (including science). Translation plays a very important role across all different languages, including the Arabic language. Saudi Arabia, through the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), has a vision of building a knowledge-based society and economy and a globally competitive national system for science, technology and innovation (STI). The strategic direction is for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach the ranks of developed countries in STI by the year 2030 through projects on scientific translation and scientific awareness outreach programmes, thus making science available for all.
