ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a guideline to move enterprise architecture (EA) from professional certificates to academic credentials for higher education. It suggests that EA is a strategy and business-driven activity that supports management planning and decision making by providing coordinated views of an entire enterprise. The chapter also suggests curriculum for a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical understanding, and the methodology of moving from professional certificates into academic credentials for EA. It shows the best curriculum for the EA discipline that alternatively is a combination of academic credentials, occupational/professional designations, and experience qualifications combined with demonstrated and documented professional competence in the field of EA. Information systems specialists focus on integrating information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information needs of businesses and other enterprises, enabling them to achieve their objectives in an effective, efficient way. The chapter attempts to assist companies, universities, government agencies, and other employers to combine the academic and professional credentials for practicing EA.
