ABSTRACT

Information science has many new frontiers. The legal and policy implications are one of them, and automated environments are another. The use of information and the legal vulnerabilities depend on the sector in question and the related sharing culture. Governments and a broad range of public entities use information for administration and national and international security. The military uses information as part of their intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activities and their command and control. Commercial and industrial entities seek to protect their intellectual and industrial property to safeguard their business and to maintain their competitive advantage. Another approach leads us to the use of information depending on the activity and automation. The automated collection of information results from the connectivity with the virtual world. Information analysis is increasingly undertaken by automated processing. Automation has been widely advanced in the area of information distribution.
