ABSTRACT
Previous chapters have given an account of widespread recognition, advocacy and indeed evidence for greater involvement of doctors in the management and leadership tasks that support the achievement of improved healthcare delivery. Each health system has its own history and process of evolution, but there appears to be consensus about the requirement for the powerful profession of medicine to be positively integrated into both strategic and operational aspects of running health services.
