ABSTRACT

The optimal voltage control model is established based on Linear Quadratic Regulator theory. This chapter discusses the optimal voltage control issue of rural electric power grid with high penetration of PhotoVoltaic (PV). It provides some cases of typical rural electric power grid with PVs are studied in the part to validate the effeteness of the optimal voltage control method. The integration of PVs, in one hand, makes the voltage control of the rural electric power grid much more complicated; and in the other hand, brings control capability to the rural electric power grid. In addition, the control capabilities of the various PVs should be taken into account simultaneously because of the interactive effect among them, and thus coordinated control shall be realized in the Rural Electric Power Grid with PVs. The feasibility of the proposed method is illustrated by several typical operation cases of rural electric power grid with PVs.
