ABSTRACT

The loss of stability and collapse of the side slope, which is one of the top three geological disasters in the world, endangers the safety of people significantly. In China, the side slope of accumulation body has higher engineering significance, which mainly includes the side slopes of landslide accumulation body, collapsed accumulation body and artificial accumulation body. Under the influence of storm, earthquake, human engineering activities and other factors, a large loose accumulation body is apt to develop into a geological disaster, endangering the safety of humans and properties. The side slope of through-cut subgrade shall be designed in accordance with the topographical, hydrogeological and engineering geological conditions along the highway. In order to avoid new engineering geological disaster induced by excavation of the side slope, the general concept of design of the side slope of through-cut subgrade is the avoidance of excavation of soil side slope of the eluvium layer, and less excavation of rocky side slope.
