UV NAIL LAMP SAFETY Questions were raised in 2009 about the safety of lamps used in nail salons to photopolymerize arti‘cial nail coatings. Texas dermatologists MacFarlane and Alonso claimed to have had two patients who they suspected had developed nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) as a result of using UV nail lamps during regular salon services (2).
