ABSTRACT
Invariant metrics play an important role in understanding the geometric properties in Several Complex Variables. This survey discusses the Carathéodory and Kobayashi metrics, including the Lempert theorem. At its end, a few remarks on the Green function, the Sibony pseudometric, and the Bergman metric are added.
