ABSTRACT

Inventory management is an important element in the system of current asset management and production management. The world practice has developed methodological techniques of inventory management in a manufacturing enterprise, including various methods and approaches. The methods and tools of inventory management based on the principles of pull systems (Kanban, dynamic buffer management, in particular) could provide such examples. But in cases, when the production lead time exceeds the delivery time, the methods and tools mentioned above are to be oriented to form a high inventory level. The authors propose an optimization algorithm of works-in-progress inventory on the example of an electrode production enterprise. The solution is based on the combination of pull system tools and mathematical statistics methods. The application of the elaborated model makes it possible to reduce sufficiently the inventory level, to release current assets while maintaining the level of delivery reliability required by the consumer.
