ABSTRACT
Currently, the problem of waste management often belongs to disputable topics at European as well as global level. People are still more aware that the resources of our planet are exhaustible and it is necessary to save them more economically. One of the areas, which significantly contribute in the conditions of our environment, is the waste management in all of its forms, whereas every country has different solutions to the problem. Waste management is too broad term, authors of the article focused on the comparison of selected fee tools in the area of waste management in Slovakia and the countries of the European Union. The goal of this article is to draw an attention to alternatives, which can be applied when improving the waste management in Slovakia and suggest the possible solutions in accordance with a sustainable development and costs necessary for its realization.
