ABSTRACT

This article focuses on the economic evaluation of rebuilding airport for IFR traffic to support the development of aviation nodes, which are important economic elements in their regions and often overlooked. In total, three variants of rebuilding are analyzed. The cheapest one is here only to show the cheapest possible way of creating an IFR airport while following the regulations. In a real life situation, such option would make no sense and is not considered in the cost-benefit analysis. Therefore, cost benefit analysis is applied only for Variant I and II. The results show that the mid-option is the best with return of investment period 5.04 years. It is shown, that it is economically viable to transform a VFR airport to IFR airport.
