ABSTRACT

In this work, it was created a tool that allow the usage of micro-CT bone medical images to create geometrical models to be used by mechanical simulation methodologies, through the usage of image processing operations, as finite element and meshless analysis. The work here developed created two different procedures to correlate the image pixel information with a mesh constructed using the developed methodology. Thus, advanced discretization numerical techniques—two meshless methods and the Finite Element Method (FEM) – were used to analyse the behaviour of the discretized models. The meshless methods used in this work were the Radial Point Interpolation Method (RPIM) and the Natural Neighbour Radial Point Interpolation Method (NNRPIM). The objective of this work is to extend the NNRPIM and RPIM to the elasto-static numerical analysis of a geometrical models created using the developed tool.
