ABSTRACT

The combination of mesenchymal stem cells, biodegradable scaffolds, and appropriate osteoinductor factors are required for bone regeneration. This study aimed to review the utilization of three-dimensional scaffolds. The bone is an extremely dynamic tissue, and the reproduction of such a complex network of cells, biological factors, and mechanical properties makes bone engineering a biological and medical challenge. Scaffolds produced by combining the positive properties of hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate, and synthetic polymers, are one of the most promising way to reach bone regeneration in terms of osteoconduction.
