ABSTRACT

Today, in biomechanics, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is the most commonly used discrete approximation technique to perform the computational simulation of biological structures. The aim of this work is to use alternative techniques to the FEM. Thus, in this study advanced discretization meshless techniques are used to analyze 3D numerical models of trabecular cubic patches under confined compression. The bone patches were obtained from the DICOM image files of a high resolution micro-CT of a cuneiform bone.
