ABSTRACT

The chapter elaborates on the innovative ways, i.e. blended learning 1 (BL), e-learning, flexible learning (also sometimes referred to as hybrid learning) or “cloud” campus, that different universities in Australia, the United States of America (USA) and the European Union (EU) have embarked on to address some critical issues specific to providing engineering education online. 2 In particular, the chapter looks at the challenges, limitations, opportunities and the major research findings relating to curriculum development, pedagogy and the delivery of engineering courses online in this 21st century.
