ABSTRACT

This study made an in-depth systematic analysis of the implementation of the Government’s law on the management of Islamic religious education in the community. The study employed a multiple case-study method. The cases were three Muslim communities, all located in the City of Bandung. There were three categories of community: traditional, modern, and combination. Interviews, observations, and document analyses were used to collect the data. Path analysis was used to understand the implementation of Islamic religious education from the highest level of the Government’s law to the implementation at the society level. The findings showed that all the rules could be performed by the communities and the assisting government, especially through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, from the ministry level, to the religious affair offices in sub-districts.
