ABSTRACT

An increasing exploitation of mineral resources has made ecological destroyed and environment polluted, which has a serious impact on the ecosystem. In this paper, the change of vegetation cover is taken as an indicator of the terrestrial ecosystems. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data from 2000 to 2014 are employed to investigate the spatio-temporal variation of vegetation cover, and the effects of human activities and climate change on vegetation cover were also analyzed by using Sen-trend combined with the Mann-Kendall test and correlation analysis method. The results indicate that the vegetation coverage presented an increasing trend over Yulin, but there was no obvious change in some areas whereas the cover decreased largely in 2004. According to the analysis, climate change and human activity were the major factors for vegetation cover.
