ABSTRACT

The modern construction industry makes use of innovative production and assembly technologies, which purpose is to implement reliable and simple structures. An example of such technology is the K-Span system of self-supporting arch-shaped covering of steel sheet panels used in general-purpose and industrial construction. These load-bearing structures double as curtain walls, the cost and time to produce them is several times lower than that of traditional roofs. However, their design is behind the technological progress. Currently, there are no available reliable design methods for the roofing made of profiled arched metal sheet. This paper presents verification of computational models by means of the ANSYS computer program, laboratory testing and the use of computational methods for concept simulation.
