ABSTRACT

The paper discusses the problem of structural behaviour of sandwich panels. The three-layered structures are statically loaded. Between the upper steel facing and the shear deformable core, a debonding area is assumed to reflect manufacturing errors. Variable position, shape and size of the debondings are analysed. The 3-D numerical model with the definition of damage initiation and evolution is applied. The obtained extreme stress values indicate a significant sensitivity of the sandwich structures due to the geometry of the debonding area.
