ABSTRACT

Elastic buckling of a sandwich cylindrical panel with corrugated core subjected to external pressure is presented in the paper. Two alternative corrugation directions of the core are considered. The equivalent elastic constants of the orthotropic shell are analytically formulated. The system of differential equations for an orthotropic cylindrical shell is analytically solved and the critical pressure values are calculated for two alternative sandwich panels. Moreover, numerical – FEM model (Abaqus system) is developed and the critical pressures – loads are calculated. The results of these two methods are compared.
