ABSTRACT

The buckling phenomenon of thin periodic plates is considered. The slabs submitted for analysis are subjected to combined transverse and in-plane load. The periodicity of the investigated structures is unidirectional. Because the effect of the microstructure size plays a vital part in the considered model, the tolerance averaging technique is applied. This method enables the conversion of basic differential equations with periodic discontinuous quotients to equations with constant averaged coefficients. The results are compared with the application of a corresponding finite element model.
