ABSTRACT

Chapter 7, “Compliance and Ethics Programs,” describes the importance of ethics and compliance programs to a wide range of governmental authorities, and their subsequent widespread adoption by organizations of all types and sizes. This is directly relevant to managing environmental risk because of the significant compliance and ethical components of environmental and sustainability issues. Ethics and compliance programs that conform to guidelines and policies established by the Sentencing Commission, the Department of Justice, and other regulatory or enforcement agencies reflect governmental expectations, making them prudent to take them into account when managing environmental risk and compliance.
