ABSTRACT

The internet has opened the door to instant communications from large metropolitan cities to the countryside, from a vacation cruise ship to the office, even from a remote jungle to literally anywhere in the world. Before examining recruitment techniques of terrorists and their online methodologies, it is important to understand who many of the younger and where they come from. Online recruiting methodology employed by Antifa is geared toward local membership. The online process is usually initiated by the candidate, who is interested in the organization or its cause or ideology through the Internet via chatrooms, forums, or email. Self-radicalization is possible solely via the internet in a similar fashion as online radicalization. Al Qaeda’s planning model is clear, concise, and encourages attention to strict detail coupled with tremendous flexibility in the planning and target selection process. Incitement can be derived from religious text either literally or via interpretation and the decision to act on a violent religion-based ideology.
