ABSTRACT

Logistics involve the risk of occupational accidents. Occupational accidents in in-house logistics have often been studied from the accident prevention perspective. Even though warehouse work involves new technology, the effect of these new technologies on occupational safety has not yet been widely studied. The objective of our study is to determine whether digital feedback and learning systems can improve safety of forklift drivers. Their attitude reflects their ability and willingness to adopt new technology, and the purpose of this paper is to present attitudes towards new technology.

Altogether, 216 forklift truck drivers completed the initial questionnaire. One third of these respondents had been involved in an occupational accident during the three preceding years. The attitude of the respondents towards digital systems was positive, as 78% considered that IT solutions increased the fluency of their work, and 61% believed that IT solutions improved occupational safety in their work.
