ABSTRACT

As students learn critical thinking, data manipulation, and programming in early data analytics courses, it is natural for instructors to encourage development of soft skills that will enhance career readiness. This chapter focuses on these professional skills—communication, flexibility, and others—and some ideas for incorporating them into the classroom. It also introduces Team-Based Learning (TBL) and describes how TBL can support development of professional skills while building analytical skills, increase engagement, and improve the overall experience for students and instructors in the classroom.
