ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the revolumize, reshape, and rejuvenate the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers became the workhorse for lip injections and remain so to this day. Plus, it will accentuate the pink show of the mucosal lip by decreasing the lip roll as the neuromodulator will decrease the ability of the upper mucosal lip to roll under when smiling. Placement of a very small quantity of neuromodulator along the lower cutaneous lip just inferior to the vermilion border will improve the inferior lipstick lines. Injections of neuromodulator in the orbicularis oris as well as the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi will treat the phenomenon of the gummy smile in which the upper mucosal lip thins and retracts superiorly so much that the gums show when smiling. A youthful face has several notable features: smooth skin with no wrinkles or discolorations, central facial volume that prevents sagging of the lower face, and full, well-demarcated lips.
