ABSTRACT

In this chapter a detailed review has been made on the ethnomedicinal plant resources used by the ethnic people reside in Indo-Gangetic region and 128Central India. Here, 244 published literatures have been consulted from different states of the said region of India. A total of 528 plant species under 112 families have been enlisted which are used by the tribal communities for a wide range of medicinal purposes. In most of the cases leaves are used followed by underground parts, fruits, seeds, etc. The recorded species have been enumerated in tabular form with its updated scientific name, popular synonym, plant parts used, diseases and ailments cured, and allied references. The vast phytoresources of this part of India need further scientific studies for bioprospecting of natural products and also for conservation of important ethnomedicinal species.
