ABSTRACT

The University of Canterbury research team developed an extraction method that was ecologically sound and effectively purified the polyphenol compounds from the pine bark. The water-based extraction method did not rely on solvents or chemicals and delivered a high antioxidant pine bark extract in dry powder form that was named ENZOGENOL. In-market safety monitoring has confirmed the safety of ENZOGENOL for human consumption. Research into the potential health benefits of ENZOGENOL started with testing the free radical scavenging abilities using in vitro antioxidant assays. Bioactivities of the compounds present in ENZOGENOL have been studied from different plant sources and in many different model systems, offering a number of mechanisms, other than anti-oxidant effects, by which ENZOGENOL may be influencing human physiology. ENZO Professional has become a well known nutritional therapeutic among health professionals and is used in many integrative medical practices in New Zealand and Australia.
