ABSTRACT

A recent project concerning the central railway line in Montenegro comprised visual, detailed and special inspection, condition evaluation and action plan for rehabilitation works on all tunnels and galleries. This generated a huge amount of information and data to be structured and processed for various objectives. It was requested that data should be delivered in a format suitable for future incorporation in a BIM system. Therefore, it was decided to adopt a “fully digital” approach. An initial visual inspection was performed based on a full video recording of all tunnel surfaces. Geodetic survey was performed by laser scanning and continuous 3D point clouds of the inside of the tunnels were obtained. Defect registration was performed by pre-defining of a number of typical defects. A purpose made inspection database was used for registration of observations on the spot. Afterwards, an Action Plans for Rehabilitation Works weas generated directly from data in the Inspection Database.
