ABSTRACT

The main scope of the research is to develop an integrated health monitoring system to improve serviceability assessment of bridges in Romania. The system must integrate the actual practice mainly based on visual inspections and combines the response of different reliable sensors, installed on the structure to monitor the damage progress, with enhanced realistic deterioration models. The system was developed to cover the parameters for the most important deterioration mechanisms: reinforcement corrosion, concrete carbonation and the changes in the structures behavior.
