ABSTRACT

Pre-stressed concrete girder with corrugated steel web is one of the promising steel and concrete hybrid structures which are widely applied to highway bridges. The joint structure between concrete and steel is an important part of such structure. Firstly, the application of various shear connectors for joint structure was introduced and compared for the mechanical performance, such as headed stud and perfobond strips shear connectors weld on the flange or the corrugated steel web embedded in the concrete slab directly. In order to improve the construction quality of concrete and durability of joint structure, a new joint structure that placing lower slab on the inner side of corrugated steel webs with perforated plate connector is proposed in this study. Then, push-out tests with different parameters including plate height, plate thickness, and plate shape were carried out to study shear strength, shear stiffness, failure modes and relative slip characteristics of proposed joint structure. Finally, on the basis of test results, the calculation formula of shear capacity for proposed joint structure is proposed, which can accurately predict the shear strength. All the findings of proposed joint structure in present study can provide reference for its application in practical bridge.
