ABSTRACT
The work discusses some properties of singular vectors of normal singular value decomposition of the blocks of digital image matrix (matrices). The results of computational experiments and analysis of detected properties allowed to develop a new method for preprocessing of DI with subsequent compression in JPEG. Results of computational experiment confirm the efficiency of preprocessing before JPEG compression, which allows to reduce image file size by 2 — 6% compared with conventional JPEG compression at the same level of visual perception.
