ABSTRACT
The article describes the notion of reactive power considering the reliability of a power supply system. The negative consequences of reactive power exchanges in the power network are analyzed. The calculations of the reliability indicators considering the power factor are given. The main indices of electric power systems reliability are considered in the article. The laws of probability for the distribution of these indices are justified. The examples of assessing the annual damage from disruptions in power supply reliability are given.
