ABSTRACT

Additive manufacturing technologies have been successfully implemented for products of small to medium size by digitally developing new processes, new materials and new designs. This study shows that there are few examples of truly innovative large-scale constructions built or projected with the help of additive manufacturing technologies. New, innovative, improved design of building elements that achieve critical functions in order to tackle climate change should be pursued. This necessary design shift towards functionality and sustainability will in addition open up new economic opportunities.
