ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to present a set of reflections on the importance and responsibility of design in contemporary society, particularly in terms of sustainability based on the protection of local cultures and its Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH), we discuss the problem of preservation of identity of the cities in face of globalization. We defend the importance of the recognition of different types of (ICH), and we present a case study, in which poetry is defended as ICH of Lisbon. Poetry which incites us to see the city through the eyes of its great poets and is organized in thematic itineraries, unifying structure that allows you to put Material in dialogue with Intangible Heritage, promoting simultaneously the Spirit of the place.
